This assessment identifies and addresses key risks present during Creative IQ after-school sessions. All risks are reviewed annually and as needed following incidents or new activity types.
Key Risk Areas:
1) Pupil Injury (Trips/Falls):
- Mitigation: Clear safety rules, floor inspections, first aid cover.
- Action: Supervision and emergency contacts available.
2) Equipment Use Injury:
- Mitigation: Regular equipment checks, age-appropriate materials, instructor supervision.
3) Illness During Session:
- Mitigation: Medical info collected at registration, first aid cover, immediate parent contact.
4) SEND or Medical Needs:
- Mitigation: SEND info reviewed termly, activities adjusted, inclusion practices followed.
5) Late Collection:
- Mitigation: Contact numbers logged, follow-up protocol in place.
6) Unexplained Absence:
- Mitigation: Confirm with school, escalate to DSL if needed.
7) Missing Child:
- Mitigation: Headcounts, collection logs, immediate alerts to team and office.
8) Behavioural Incidents:
- Mitigation: Staff training, incident logs, parental contact.
9) Hazardous Substances:
- Mitigation: COSHH protocols followed, substances securely stored.
10) Fire or Emergency:
- Mitigation: Evacuation plans, staff briefings, fire drills.
11) Lone Working:
- Mitigation: Inform team, avoid high-risk tasks alone, check-in protocols.
12) Manual Handling:
- Mitigation: Training, safe lifting techniques, equipment use encouraged.
All staff are trained in these protocols and safety procedures are visible and followed consistently.
